Beaches
The Costa Blanca boasts some of the cleanest, white sand beaches in Spain and there is a great variety to choose from.

Guardamar beach is the closest to the villa and stretches from the marina to the north,
all the way to Torrivieja in the south. The northern end is sheltered by the natural park and the sand dunes and as you head south there are bars along the promenade. The town has numerous places to eat which caters for all tastes. Before you reach Torrevieja is La Mata beach which offers bars and is a fantastic place to spend an evening as the sun goes down. Cabo Roig is set in a lovely bay, which you have to walk down to. The beach has a bar and it is well worth staying until darkness arrives until returning home.
Playa Flamenca, La Zenia, Mil Palmeres and Pilar de la Horadada are all beautifully sandy and have bars catering for your every need. Further south is the Mar Menor and the Spanish resort area of Santiago de Ribera. The main attraction of this beautiful destination is the Mar Menor, with its calm, shallow waters and pleasant beaches.
Santiago de la Ribera is on the Mar Menor, on the coast of Murcia. This old fishing village has 4 kilometres of beach, with fine, golden sand. Its Mediterranean waters are ideal for enjoying the sun, sea and water sports all year round. It has an attractive, palm-lined promenade that runs the length of the beach.
It is well worth sampling the local gastronomy, featuring delicious fish and shellfish, and outstanding dishes such as salt-roast sea bream and king prawns. There are two particular summer events which should not be missed: the fiesta of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of sailors,
on 16 July, and the San Javier International Jazz Festival, in the third week of the same month.
To the north of Alicante is the Playa of San Juan de Alicante, the longest and widest beach in the area which sits to the North of the city and is one of the owners of a blue flag. It is an impressive 7km long and extremely wide which means that even in the height of summer it’s always possible to find a nice place to sit and sunbathe. The seafront houses many restaurants, bars and cafes. There is plenty of car parking and other services included disabled access, toilets, watchtowers, a Red Cross post and tourist information.
For those of you who have the desire, Benidorm is about 50 minutes drive north - good luck!!
